Zesty Italian Seasoning Recipe

You may be asking yourself, what's the best Italian seasoning substitute or what are the Italian seasoning uses, how do homemade spices compare to McCormick or Walmart Brands. What's the best Italian seasoning brand or how to make your own Italian seasoning packets, This Zesty Italian seasoning goes well with Chicken, Pork, I have even used it on French Fries! it's a simple Italian seasoning that will last months. You can even make it organic using organic spices!

Zesty Italian Seasoning

  • 10 TB Garlic Powder

  • 10 TB Onion Powder

  • 10 TB Sugar

  • 20 ts oregano

  • 10 ts Black Pepper

  • 10 ts Basil

  • 10 TS Parsley

  • 20 TS Salt

  • 2 1/2 ts Thyme

  • 2 1/2 ts Celery Salt

1. Mix all ingredients into a 5-gallon zip lock bag, (mix well)

2. Store in a quart size mason jar. (or an airtight container.  Zesty Italian Seasoning can be used for Chicken, Beef, Pork and even make the most delicious French Fries!

Note: I do use a coffee grinder to grind mine, to make it easier to mix.

How To Use

 

This Italian seasoning mix has so many different uses. Here are a few of my favorites:

  • Salad Dressing: You can use this seasoning mix to create a wonderful vinaigrette salad dressing that tastes great on green salads, pasta salads, and even chopped vegetable salads.

  • Seasoning: Use as a seasoning on roasted potatoes and most vegetables. I also love to add it to French fries! (uncooked) In a bowl add oil and season well with this seasoning before popping them into the oven, they are to die for!  

  • Marinade: Looking for a way to spice your meats,  add this seasoning to any meats. I have used it for chicken, beef, pork etc. it works well with all of them and makes a great dry rub .

  • Give it as a gift: If you are looking for a unique gift to give your friends and family then make up a batch of this Italian dressing mix recipe and fill some spice jars. 

  • Make a dipping oil: Mix with extra virgin olive oil for a delicious dipping sauce for your favorite crusty bread or vegetables.

  • This recipe makes a full quart size mason jar full, keep on hand for every seasoning occasion, for 1 packet of Zesty Italian Seasoning there is 2 TBSP of the mix.

Tips

To make the Italian dressing, whisk together 2/3 cup canola oil, 1/4 cup white vinegar, 2 tablespoons water, and 2 tablespoons dry Italian dressing mix in a bowl.

Whisk all the ingredients until combined. Serve immediately or store covered in the refrigerator up to 1 week.
