Instant Pot Jasmine Rice Directions
-
Rinse the Rice: Place the jasmine rice in a fine mesh sieve or a bowl. Rinse the rice under cold running water, gently swirling it with your hand. Continue rinsing until the water runs clear. This step removes excess starch and prevents the rice from becoming too sticky.
-
Add Rice and Water: In the Instant Pot, combine the rinsed jasmine rice and the measured water. The water-to-rice ratio for jasmine rice in the Instant Pot is slightly less than when cooking on the stovetop to compensate for the minimal evaporation during pressure cooking.
-
Pressure Cook: Close the Instant Pot lid and set the vent to the sealing position. Select the "Manual" or "Pressure Cook" setting, depending on your Instant Pot model. Cook on high pressure for 3 minutes.
-
Natural Release: Once the cooking time is complete, allow the Instant Pot to naturally release the pressure for 10 minutes. To do this, simply let the Instant Pot sit undisturbed after the cooking cycle is finished.
-
Quick Release: After the natural release period, carefully turn the vent to the venting position to release any remaining pressure. Be cautious, as hot steam will be released.
-
Fluff the Rice: Open the Instant Pot lid and use a fork to gently fluff the jasmine rice, separating the grains.
-
Serve: Your perfectly cooked jasmine rice is ready to serve as a delightful accompaniment to your favorite dishes.
Cooking jasmine rice in the Instant Pot yields consistent and tender results, making it a great option for quick and hassle-free meal preparation. Enjoy your delicious Instant Pot Jasmine rice with various cuisines and enjoy the fragrant aroma and fluffy texture!

Stove Top Jasmine Rice Directions
-
Rinse the Rice: Place the Jasmine rice in a fine mesh sieve or a bowl. Rinse the rice under cold running water, gently swirling it with your hand. Continue rinsing until the water runs clear. This step removes excess starch and prevents the rice from becoming too sticky.
-
Measure Water: For every cup of jasmine rice, use 1 ¾ cups of water. The water-to-rice ratio may vary depending on your preference and the brand of rice you are using. You can follow the instructions on your rice package if different.
-
Cooking: In a medium saucepan, combine the rinsed rice and measured water. Bring the water to a boil over medium-high heat.
-
Reduce Heat and Simmer: Once the water starts boiling, reduce the heat to low and cover the saucepan with a tight-fitting lid. Let the rice simmer for about 15 to 18 minutes. Avoid removing the lid during this time to allow the rice to steam and cook evenly.
-
Fluff the Rice: After the cooking time is complete, turn off the heat and let the rice sit covered for an additional 5 minutes. Then, remove the lid and use a fork to gently fluff the rice, separating the grains.
-
Serve: Your perfectly cooked jasmine rice is ready to serve as a delicious side dish to complement a wide variety of meals.
