Stove Top Directions Below

Sauté Bacon and Onion:

  1. Set your Instant Pot to the sauté function. Add the bacon, diced onion, and butter to the pot.

  2. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the bacon is browned and the onion is translucent. If needed, drain excess juices halfway through for better browning.

Drain and Combine:

  1. Once the bacon and onion are browned, drain the excess fat completely.

  2. Add the diced roasted bell pepper, seasoned pinto beans, navy beans, 1/2 cup of Sweet Baby Ray's BBQ Sauce, ketchup, brown sugar, yellow mustard, Worcestershire sauce, liquid smoke, garlic powder, and pepper to the Instant Pot. Mix well to combine.

Pressure Cooking:

  1. Place the lid on the Instant Pot, ensuring it is set to the "sealing" position.

  2. Press the "Manual" or "Pressure Cook" button and set the timer for 30 minutes on high pressure.

Pressure Release:

  1. Once the cooking cycle is complete, allow the pressure to release naturally. This may take some time, but it ensures that the flavors meld perfectly.

Finishing Touches:

  1. Once the pressure button has fully dropped, carefully open the Instant Pot lid.

  2. Drain most of the excess liquid from the beans mixture.

  3. Add the remaining 1/2 cup of Sweet Baby Ray's BBQ Sauce and mix well to coat the beans with the flavorful sauce.

Serve and Enjoy:

  1. Your Instant Pot BBQ Bacon Baked Beans are now ready to be served!

This mouthwatering recipe delivers a hearty and satisfying side dish that's perfect for gatherings, barbecues, or any meal that calls for comfort food with a twist.

  1. Saute Bacon and Onion:

  2. In a large pot or skillet, sauté the bacon, diced onion, and butter over medium heat until the bacon is browned and the onion is translucent. If needed, drain excess fat for better browning.

  3. Add Ingredients:

  4. To the pot or skillet, add the diced roasted bell pepper, seasoned pinto beans, navy beans, 1/2 cup of Sweet Baby Ray's BBQ Sauce, ketchup, brown sugar, yellow mustard, Worcestershire sauce, liquid smoke, garlic powder, and pepper. Mix well to combine all the ingredients.

  5. Simmer and Cook:

  6. Reduce the heat to low and let the mixture simmer for about 30-45 minutes, stirring occasionally. This allows the flavors to meld and the beans to absorb the sauce.

  7. Check Consistency:

  8. Check the consistency of the beans and adjust the cooking time as needed. If the mixture becomes too thick, you can add a little water or more BBQ sauce to reach your desired consistency.

  9. Finishing Touches:

  10. Taste and adjust the seasoning, if necessary, by adding more salt, pepper, or other seasonings to suit your taste.

  11. Serve and Enjoy:

  12. Once the beans are cooked to your liking and the flavors are well incorporated, remove from the heat.

Dish out your flavorful Stovetop BBQ Bacon Beans and savor the rich combination of smoky bacon, tangy BBQ sauce, and tender beans.

Here are some tips to help you make the best Stovetop BBQ Bacon Beans:

  1. Bacon Browning: When sautéing the bacon and onions, aim for a medium heat. This will help render the bacon fat slowly and evenly, leading to crispy and flavorful bacon pieces.

  2. Draining Excess Fat: If your bacon releases a lot of fat during cooking, you can drain some of the excess fat before adding the rest of the ingredients. This prevents your beans from becoming too greasy.

  3. Seasoning Balance: Be mindful of the saltiness of the bacon and BBQ sauce. Taste the beans as they cook and adjust the salt if needed. Remember, you can always add more but you can't take it away!

  4. Simmering Time: Letting the beans simmer on low heat allows the flavors to meld and the beans to absorb the sauce. Stir occasionally to ensure the beans cook evenly and don't stick to the bottom of the pot.

  5. Liquid Adjustment: If your beans are getting too thick or dry during simmering, you can add a little water, broth, or more BBQ sauce to maintain the desired consistency.

  6. Sauce Thickness: As the beans cook, the sauce will thicken. If you prefer a thinner sauce, you can adjust it by adding a bit of water or broth.

  7. Customize Flavors: Feel free to adjust the amounts of BBQ sauce, ketchup, and other seasonings to suit your taste preferences. If you like it smokier, add more liquid smoke; if you prefer sweeter, adjust the brown sugar.

  8. Finishing Touches: A sprinkle of chopped fresh herbs, such as parsley or green onions, can add a burst of freshness and color when serving.

  9. Leftovers: These beans often taste even better the next day as the flavors continue to meld. Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator.

  10. Serving Suggestions: These BBQ bacon beans are fantastic as a side dish for BBQs, picnics, potlucks, or just about any meal that craves comfort food.
