Pulled Pork Sides: Our Go-to List Jalapeno Cheddar Cornbread BBQ Baked Beans Loaded Potato Salad Bacon and onion Collard Greens Southern Deviled Eggs Parmesan Corn What is Pork Butt AKA Boston Butt Roast? Like many cuts of meat, there are multiple names about the same thing. Pork butt and Boston butt are the same. Pork shoulder is the thinner area of this cut but is commonly cooked and used the same as the butt. It has a bit less marbling and less fat and is usually not separated from the butt. But usually, the term pork shoulder is used interchangeably with pork butt and Boston butt . Slow Cooker Pulled Pork First you want to season the pork butt with. Our Italian Seasoning Note: it is not necessary to add any liquid to the slow cooker if you’re just doing a spice blend, but for great taste add a can of Dr. Pepper! Next, place the pork shoulder into the crock pot Cook the pork for 8 hours on low There will be liquid in the crock pot that the pork gave off while cooking: Makes wonderful Gravy Remove the pork to a board and let it rest for 20 minutes. Then shred it with a fork: The pork should should shred quite easily with a fork, and fall apart nicely. The pulled pork is now ready to enjoy, and can be used for many different recipes like: Pork Chili Dr. Pepper Pulled Pork Pulled Pork Green Chili This pulled pork is also gluten-free, dairy-free, low carb, paleo, and keto friendly. Slow Cooker Pulled Pork Tips: Can you overcook slow cooker pulled pork? Yes, definitely. The best way to combat this is to first get a feel for your own slow cooker, since models can vary in heat intensity, and also the size can impact cooking time. If you’re cooking a smaller pork shoulder that’s 3 pounds, you should check the temperature earlier than you would for a 5 pound pork shoulder. The pork is done when it reaches 190 F and shreds easily with a fork. How to reheat pulled pork: While you can reheat it in the microwave, I think it tastes best when it’s reheated in a skillet. Add a small amount of fat like neutral olive oil, butter, or lard, and cook the leftover pulled pork for a few minutes until warmed through. What temperature to cook slow cooker pulled pork: I always cook pulled pork on low in the crock pot. It freezes beautifully! Store in an airtight container for up to 2 months Slow Cooker Pulled Pork This Slow Cooker Pulled Pork is incredibly easy to make, and it's perfect for weeknight meal, lunch time sandwiches, or freezing. Add with our Au Jes Seasoning to make wonderful French Dip Sandwiches. Compatible Side Dishes: BBQ Baked Beans Loaded Potato Salad Parmesan Corn On The Cob Mashed Potatoes and Gravy Instructions Season the pork all over with our Italian Seasoning then place it in the slow cooker. Cover with a lid and cook on low for about 8 hours When the pork is done cooking, remove it to a board, and let cool for at least 20 minutes before shredding with a fork. Take the leftover liquid from the crock pot and strain it to remove any solids. If you don't mind the fat, add the liquid back to the shredded pork and toss well. If you want to remove the excess fat, chill the liquid the refrigerator for about 30 minutes until the fat solidifies, then discard, and pour the remaining liquid over the pork. Enjoy! Oven Pulled Pork Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Season all sides of the pork with olive oil, and then our Italian Seasoning Blend . Place the pork, fat side up on a rack in a roasting pan. Roast the pork for 45 minutes. Reduce the heat to 250 degrees F and continue to cook for 6 1/2 hours. Remove from the oven and cool completely. Remove the meat from the pan and using two forks, shred all of the meat. Should I cover my pork butt roast As pork begins to shrink and lose its juices, it can become dry. The first way is to cover the pork roast with aluminum foil or your baking pan cover. Depending on your oven temperature, covering pork roast helps preserve its juicy flavors and also reduces shrinkage. In the last 15 min uncover and let brown (or pan sear before roasting. (add 3 TBSP oil to hot pan and brown roast on all 4 sides) Tips: Adding Liquid to Pork Roast The goal is to keep as much of the juices in the pork roast as possible. When juices begin to seep into the baking pan, add water, chicken broth, beef broth, Dr. Pepper or vegetable broths to these juices. This forms the basis of the liquid used to baste your pork roast and keep it from drying. Later, use this liquid to create delicious, flavorful gravy. How-to Video

Stir the mixture over medium heat until well combined. Bring it to a gentle simmer, then reduce the heat to low. Add the brown sugar to the saucepan and mix it in until it is completely dissolved. Pour in the bourbon whisky, liquid smoke, and lemon juice. Stir the sauce well to incorporate all the ingredients. In a small bowl, mix 1 teaspoon of corn starch with 1 teaspoon of water to create a slurry. Slowly pour the slurry into the saucepan while stirring continuously to prevent lumps from forming. Continue simmering the sauce on low heat for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. This will allow the flavors to meld together and the sauce to thicken slightly. Optional for a thicker sauce: If you prefer a thicker consistency, mix 2 teaspoons of corn starch with 2 teaspoons of water in a separate bowl to create another slurry. Slowly pour the second slurry into the saucepan while stirring, and let the sauce simmer for an additional 2-3 minutes until it reaches your desired thickness. Remove the saucepan from the heat and let the Whisky Bourbon BBQ Sauce cool down a bit before using it. Transfer the sauce to an airtight container or jar and store it in the refrigerator for up to two weeks. Your delicious homemade Whisky Bourbon BBQ Sauce is now ready to be used on grilled meats, sandwiches, or any other dishes you desire! Enjoy! Thank you so much for supporting my site Here are some tips to help you make the most delicious Whisky Bourbon BBQ Sauce: Quality ingredients: Use high-quality ketchup, apple cider vinegar, honey, and bourbon whisky. The better the ingredients, the better the flavor of your sauce. Adjust sweetness: Taste the sauce as you go and adjust the sweetness to your preference. If you like it sweeter, add a bit more honey or brown sugar. For a tangier sauce, increase the apple cider vinegar slightly. Heat level: If you prefer a spicier BBQ sauce, you can add a pinch of cayenne pepper or a few dashes of hot sauce to the mixture. Thicker sauce: If you want a thicker sauce without using corn starch, you can let it simmer for a bit longer. The sauce will naturally reduce and thicken over time. Control the bourbon flavor: If you want a stronger bourbon flavor, you can increase the amount of bourbon whisky in the recipe. If you prefer a milder taste, reduce the amount or cook the sauce for a little longer to let the alcohol evaporate. Consistency: Remember that the sauce will thicken slightly as it cools, so don't worry if it seems a bit runny while it's still warm. Storage: Let the sauce cool completely before transferring it to an airtight container or jar for storage in the refrigerator. It will last for up to two weeks. Usage: This Whisky Bourbon BBQ Sauce is perfect for basting grilled meats, as a dipping sauce for chicken nuggets or fries, or as a marinade for various dishes. Get creative and try it on different foods! Customization: Feel free to experiment with the ingredients to suit your taste. You can add a touch of garlic powder, smoked paprika, or even some molasses for extra depth of flavor. Double the batch: If you love the sauce, consider doubling the recipe and storing it in multiple containers. It's always nice to have some extra BBQ sauce on hand for future meals. Remember, cooking is an art, and you can make this recipe your own by adding your favorite spices or adjusting the ratios to suit your taste buds. This helps prevent condensation buildup, which can lead to sogginess. Refrigeration: Place the leftover potatoes in an airtight container. If you're storing them with the cheese topping, cover them with plastic wrap or aluminum foil before sealing the container. Refrigerate within 2 hours of cooking. Label and Date: It's a good practice to label the container with the date when you cooked the potatoes. This helps you keep track of their freshness. Storage Time: Parmesan Herb Potatoes can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days. The cheese might lose some crispness, but the flavors will still be enjoyable. Reheating: To reheat, you can use the microwave, oven, or stovetop. If using the oven, cover the dish with foil to prevent further browning of the cheese, then heat at a low temperature until warmed through. For the stovetop, use a non-stick pan and gently reheat over medium-low heat. Cheese Topping: If the cheese becomes less crispy after refrigeration, you can sprinkle additional Parmesan on top before reheating to restore some of the texture. Freezing (Optional): If you want to freeze the potatoes, do so without the cheese topping, as cheese can become soggy when frozen. Place the cooled potatoes in a freezer-safe container, leaving some space for expansion. Freeze for up to 2-3 months. Thaw in the refrigerator before reheating, and then add fresh cheese when reheating. Different Cheese: While Parmesan is a classic choice, you can use other cheeses like cheddar, mozzarella, or Gouda for a unique flavor twist. Creamier Texture: For an even creamier texture, mix in a dollop of sour cream, Greek yogurt, or cream cheese with the butter and herbs before cooking. Additional Veggies: Introduce more vegetables to the mix. Add sliced bell peppers, mushrooms, or zucchini along with the potatoes for extra color and flavor. Crispy Topping: After baking, sprinkle some breadcrumbs mixed with herbs and melted butter over the potatoes before broiling. This adds an extra layer of texture. Spicy Kick: Add a pinch of red pepper flakes or cayenne pepper to the seasoning mix for a hint of heat. Balsamic Glaze: Drizzle some balsamic glaze over the potatoes before serving to add a sweet and tangy element. Grilled Variation: If weather permits, you can grill the halved potatoes in a foil packet with the butter and seasonings. Finish by adding the cheese and letting it melt on the grill. Vegetarian Option: Use vegetable broth instead of bone or meat-based broths to make this dish vegetarian-friendly. Creamy Alfredo Version: Swap the bone broth for heavy cream and Parmesan cheese for a luscious Alfredo-style potato dish. Asian Fusion: Use sesame oil, soy sauce, ginger, and green onions in place of the Italian herbs for an Asian-inspired twist. Feel free to get creative and mix and match elements from different variations to create your own unique version of this dish. The cold temperature helps preserve the freshness and prevents the growth of harmful bacteria. Airtight Container: Transfer the vinaigrette to an airtight container, such as a glass jar with a tight-sealing lid or a plastic container designed for liquids. Ensure that the container is clean and dry to prevent any contamination. Labeling: It's a good practice to label the container with the date you made the vinaigrette. This helps you keep track of its freshness. Avoid Light and Heat: Store the vinaigrette in the back of the refrigerator, away from direct light and heat sources, which can affect the quality and taste over time. Check for Separation: Balsamic vinaigrette may separate over time, with the oil rising to the top. This is normal. Before using, simply shake or stir the vinaigrette to re-emulsify the ingredients. Use Within a Reasonable Time: While balsamic vinaigrette can last for several weeks when refrigerated, it's best to use it within 2-4 weeks to ensure the best flavor and quality. Over time, the flavors may change, but it should remain safe to consume for a longer period. Inspect for Spoilage: If the vinaigrette develops an off smell, unusual appearance, or off flavors, it's best to discard it, as this may indicate spoilage. Remember that homemade vinaigrettes may have a shorter shelf life compared to commercially produced dressings with added preservatives. Always trust your senses (smell, taste, and appearance) to determine the freshness and safety of your stored balsamic vinaigrette. The idea behind basting is to keep the turkey moist and to enhance its flavor by repeatedly coating it with its own juices or a flavorful liquid. However, modern ovens are designed to maintain a consistent temperature, and frequently opening the oven to baste the turkey can actually prolong the cooking time and result in a drier bird. If you've properly brined the turkey or used a flavorful rub, the need for basting diminishes. Instead, consider using a butter-soaked cheesecloth or a roasting pan with a lid to help keep the turkey moist during the cooking process. Ultimately, whether or not to baste comes down to personal preference, but it's not a make-or-break step for a delicious roasted turkey. How To Make Herb-Infused Roasted Turkey Recipe with Brine Preparing the Brine: In a large stockpot , combine 4 quarts of cold water, minced garlic cloves, rosemary sprigs, fresh thyme, black peppercorns (or ground pepper), brown sugar, lemon juice, kosher salt (or table salt), bay leaves, sage, and apple cider vinegar. Stir well to dissolve the salt and sugar. Brining the Turkey (Day 1): Place the turkey in the brine mixture, ensuring it is fully submerged. If necessary, add more cold water to cover the turkey completely. Cover the pot and refrigerate for 12 to 24 hours. The longer you brine, the more flavorful the turkey will be. Preparing for Roasting (Day 2): Preheat your oven to 250°F (120°C). Remove and Rinse: Remove the turkey from the brine and rinse it thoroughly under cold water. Pat the turkey dry with paper towels, both inside and out. Herbed Butter: In a bowl, mix together the softened butter, finely chopped rosemary, finely chopped thyme, salt, and pepper to taste. Carefully loosen the skin of the turkey by sliding your fingers under the skin, being careful not to tear it. Rub the herb butter under the turkey skin, evenly distributing it over the breast and legs. Place one sprig of fresh thyme and one sprig of fresh rosemary under the skin. Stuff the Turkey: Cut the onion in half and place both halves inside the turkey cavity along with the three whole garlic cloves. Roasting: Cover the turkey breast with aluminum foil to prevent overcooking. Place the turkey on a rack in a roasting pan. Roast in the preheated oven for 7 to 8 hours. Remove the foil halfway through the cooking time to allow the skin to brown evenly. Rest and Carve: Once the turkey is done, remove it from the oven and let it rest for 15 minutes before carving. Serve and Enjoy: Carve the turkey and serve as desired. Enjoy your flavorful, herb-infused roasted turkey! This updated recipe uses the new brine ingredients you provided for a delicious, herb-infused roasted turkey. Thank you so much for supporting my site Brining a turkey can offer several benefits when preparing a roasted turkey: Enhanced Flavor: Brining infuses the turkey with a flavorful liquid mixture that includes salt, herbs, spices, and other seasonings. This helps season the meat from the inside out, resulting in a more flavorful and well-seasoned turkey. Improved Moisture Retention: The salt in the brine helps the turkey retain moisture during the cooking process. This means that the meat is less likely to become dry and overcooked, resulting in a juicier and more tender bird. Tenderizing Effect: The salt in the brine can also have a tenderizing effect on the meat, making it more tender and easier to carve. Customizable Flavors: Brines can be customized with various herbs, spices, and aromatics to create unique flavor profiles. You can experiment with different ingredients to achieve the taste you desire. Uniform Seasoning: Brining ensures that the turkey is evenly seasoned throughout, which can be challenging to achieve with traditional surface seasoning alone. Reduced Cooking Time: Because the turkey retains more moisture, it can cook more quickly and evenly, reducing the risk of the outer portions becoming overcooked before the center is done. Golden Crispy Skin: When the turkey is roasted, the brine can help contribute to a beautifully browned and crispy skin. It's important to note that while brining has these benefits, it does require some advance planning, as the turkey needs to soak in the brine for a period of time (usually 12-24 hours) before cooking. Additionally, it's essential to rinse the turkey thoroughly after brining to remove excess salt from the surface before roasting. Overall, brining can be a valuable technique for achieving a flavorful and moist roasted turkey, especially for special occasions like Thanksgiving and Christmas . Thank you so much for supporting my site There are many variations and adaptations of the herb-infused roasted turkey recipe to suit different tastes and dietary preferences. Here are some variations you can try: Citrus-Infused Turkey: Add citrus zest (lemon, orange, or lime) to the herb butter for a fresh, tangy flavor. Replace some of the water in the brine with citrus juice for extra citrus notes. Spicy Herb Turkey: Add crushed red pepper flakes or minced jalapeños to the herb butter for a spicy kick. Use more peppercorns in the brine for a peppery flavor. Herb and Garlic Roasted Turkey: Increase the amount of garlic in the herb butter for a stronger garlic flavor. Add additional fresh herbs like sage or oregano to the herb mixture. Maple Glazed Turkey: Brush the turkey with maple syrup during the roasting process for a sweet and savory glaze. Mediterranean-Inspired Turkey: Season the herb butter with Mediterranean herbs like oregano, basil, and thyme. Stuff the turkey with lemon wedges, olives, and garlic. Smoked Turkey: Use a smoker instead of an oven to impart a smoky flavor to the turkey. You can still use the herb-infused butter and brine for added moisture and flavor. Asian-Inspired Turkey: Use ingredients like ginger, soy sauce, and sesame oil in the brine and butter for an Asian twist. Stuff the turkey with lemongrass, garlic, and ginger. Herb-Crusted Turkey: Create an herb crust by mixing finely chopped herbs with breadcrumbs and pressing it onto the turkey's skin before roasting. Vegetarian/Vegan Option: For a vegetarian or vegan alternative, you can use a large, whole cauliflower or a plant-based roast. Marinate or brine it similarly to the turkey for flavor. Gluten-Free Option: - Ensure that all ingredients, including the seasonings, herbs, and the stuffing, are gluten-free if you or your guests have dietary restrictions. These variations offer a range of flavors and styles, allowing you to customize the herb-infused roasted turkey recipe to your liking and create a unique and memorable holiday meal.

Here's a step-by-step guide: Storing Instant Pot Lasagna: Allow the Lasagna to Cool: After cooking the Instant Pot lasagna, let it cool for about 15-20 minutes inside the Instant Pot with the lid off. This helps the lasagna set and makes it easier to handle. Cut into Portions: If you've made a large lasagna, consider cutting it into individual portions. This will make it easier to store and reheat later. Transfer to Storage Containers: Once the lasagna has cooled, transfer the entire dish or individual portions to airtight containers or shallow, microwave-safe dishes with tight-fitting lids. Refrigerate: Place the containers in the refrigerator within 2 hours of cooking. Instant Pot lasagna can be refrigerated for up to 3 to 4 days. Reheating Instant Pot Lasagna: Microwave Reheating: For individual portions, the microwave is a quick and convenient option. Simply remove the lid and cover the container with a microwave-safe cover or microwave-safe paper towel. Reheat on medium power in short intervals, stirring occasionally to ensure even heating. Check the internal temperature to ensure it reaches 165°F (74°C) before serving. Oven Reheating: To reheat the entire lasagna or larger portions, preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Cover the lasagna with foil and place it in the preheated oven. Reheat for about 20-30 minutes or until it reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C). Add Extra Sauce (Optional): If you find the lasagna to be slightly dry after reheating, you can add a little extra sauce on top before covering it to help keep it moist. Rest and Serve: Once reheated, allow the lasagna to rest for a few minutes before serving. This helps the flavors meld together and makes it easier to handle. As with any reheating process, be cautious not to overheat the lasagna to avoid drying it out. Reheated Instant Pot lasagna can still be delicious and enjoyable, providing a convenient and tasty meal for another day. Regenerate response Useful tips for making lasagna in an Instant Pot: Use Oven-Ready Lasagna Noodles: To save time and effort, opt for oven-ready lasagna noodles that don't require pre-cooking. They will cook perfectly in the Instant Pot. Layer Ingredients Properly: Start with a thin layer of sauce at the bottom of the Instant Pot to prevent sticking. Then, layer uncooked oven-ready noodles, followed by the meat sauce and cheese. Repeat the layers until all the ingredients are used. Ensure Enough Liquid: The Instant Pot requires sufficient liquid to build pressure. Ensure your lasagna has enough sauce or liquid from ingredients like tomatoes to create steam during cooking. Don't Overcrowd: Be mindful not to overfill the Instant Pot to avoid clogging the pressure release valve. Leave some space at the top to allow for steam expansion. Prevent Burn Message: To avoid the "Burn" message, ensure there is enough sauce or liquid at the bottom of the Instant Pot. You can also use a layer of aluminum foil or a trivet to keep the lasagna from sticking to the bottom. Use Foil Sling: To easily lift the lasagna out of the Instant Pot, you can create a foil sling by placing a long strip of foil under the lasagna before cooking. Rest Before Serving: Allow the lasagna to rest for a few minutes after cooking. This helps the flavors meld together and makes it easier to cut into neat slices. Adjust Seasoning: Remember that the flavors in an Instant Pot lasagna can be more concentrated due to the pressure cooking. Taste and adjust the seasoning as needed before serving. By following these tips, you can achieve a delicious and satisfying lasagna using your Instant Pot in a fraction of the time compared to traditional oven-baked lasagna. Happy cooking!
